When to visit

Spring – enjoy the fresh, green countryside in April and May, with a variety of wild flowers in the verges beside the roads and lanes – including cowslips, campanulas and orchids. There are few tourists around and places of interest are opening up. Migrant birds are arriving locally and include Cuckoos and Hoopoes.

Summer – attractions(especially Puy du Fou) are in full swing now and the weather is hotting up. Head for a day out at one of the lovely Vendée beaches or off-shore islands. Enjoy relaxing in or by our pool. In the long, warm evenings you can sit on the terrace by the pool and watch the sun set. The underwater pool lights may tempt you in for a late evening dip! The peak time for visiting bird reserves in the coastal areas is June.

Autumn – the weather is usually still pleasantly warm in September and October and the trees and hedgerows are full of fruits and nuts. Walnuts and sweet chestnuts lie scattered on the ground ready to be collected for eating. There are several fairs and other events in the area celebrating the harvest of nuts and grapes.
